Balvin x Air Jordan 3 Black Orange GS
The Air Jordan 3, adorning the feet of the Jumpman, marked the inception of its journey to stardom. This iconic pair of sneakers became a trusted companion of Michael Jordan, accompanying him on his journey to victory in numerous prestigious events. These accolades included All-Star and regular-season MVP titles, the Defensive Player of the Year award, and another Slam Dunk Contest championship. In the pivotal year of 1988, the introduction of the Air Jordan 3 played a crucial role in retaining Michael Jordan, who was on the brink of parting ways with Nike. Simultaneously, Tinker Hatfield introduced the classic Jumpman logo, which still serves as a cornerstone for Jordan Brand\’s transformation into a global powerhouse. The Air Jordan 3 is the third-generation basketball shoe in the Jordan series, making its debut in 1987. It gained notoriety for its distinctive elephant print patterns adorning the shoe\’s surface. The 1988 Slam Dunk Contest, held in Chicago, is etched in history as one of the most thrilling events to date. Dominique Wilkins, Chris Webber, and the indomitable Michael Jordan, all former dunk champions, graced the contest. In the end, it was Jordan\’s iconic free-throw line dunk that clinched his victory, etching an unforgettable moment in basketball history. In the recollections of Tinker Hatfield, the scene from three decades ago remains vivid. The 66-year-old designer recently shared numerous details with ESPN in the lead-up to the Air Jordan 3\’s launch. The Air Jordan 3, one of the most beloved Air Jordan models of all time, set new standards for style and technology in the world of Michael Jordan\’s brand sneakers. Similar to the Air Jordan 2, the Air Jordan 3 masterfully combined elegance with style. Distinguishing itself from its predecessors, this sneaker lacks the large Swoosh logos on the sides, opting for the women cheap jordans singular Air logo at the back. Furthermore, three pivotal new elements were introduced: a new Jumpman logo on the tongue, a gray elephant skin-like print on the upper, and a visible Air unit in the heel. The sneaker retained the same $100 price tag as the Air Jordan 2. However, the departure of both Peter Moore, designer of the first two Air Jordan silhouettes in 1987, and Rob Strasser, vice president of marketing, who left the company to launch their own brands, complicated matters and impeded the production schedule for the Air Jordan 3. Additionally, Michael Jordan\’s original contract with the brand was up for renewal. The design reins were ultimately handed to Tinker Hatfield, a former University of Oregon pole vaulter and architecture major. Already renowned for designing the Swoosh, Air Max 1 running shoe, and Air Trainer 1, Hatfield enjoyed a warm welcome due to his revolutionary designs, culminating in the assignment of the Air Jordan 3 project. Michael Jordan flaunted the Air Jordan 3 during the 1988 All-Star Weekend in Chicago, where he secured his second consecutive Slam Dunk Contest title with his signature foul-line dunk. He also sported a \’Black Cement\’ pair during the actual All-Star Game. In front of 18,403 fans, Jordan delivered an awe-inspiring performance, amassing 40 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 4 blocks, securing MVP honors. This marked the only game in the entire season where Jordan achieved such an accomplishment. Dressed in the Black colorway, the Air Jordan 3 Retro men\’s sneaker features a lightweight visible cushioning system, delivering the same comfortable fit as the original model. Constructed from a combination of leather and synthetic materials for durability, it pays homage to the legendary figures who achieved greatness with its classic details.
